Karan Sekhri – Every year people spend thousands of dollars on buying genuine ‘Rudraksha’ from all over the world. In fact it is one of the most commonly used remedy in spiritual and astrological sciences. There are different popular methodologies to check the genuineness of the Rudraksha but as a layman it is still very difficult to differentiate. Some of the methodologies consist of putting Rudraksha in water and observe whether it floats or sinks, putting it in between two coins and analyze its rotation pattern by giving pressure on both the coins and to rub the sharp edge of the pin on the outer skin of the Rudraksha. Among all the above and other methodologies the most accurate will be to rub a sharp pin on the outer crust of the Rudraksha being a seed it will emit tiny threads like substance if it is genuine otherwise it is fake or man-made  Also if you look closely the Rudraksha Rosary the pattern in the outer crust should always be different in each bead as no two bead’s pattern could be same if it is natural. Moreover 14 to 21 faced or mukhi Rudraksha are rare to be found hence chances of purchasing a fake is more in them. Sometimes in case of ‘Gauri Shankar’ Rudraksha people form them artificially with adhesive solution. So would be better if you put this Rudraksha into boiling water for some minutes and if it is man-made joints will break apart automatically. Final tip or piece of advice would be to buy them from some known person or institution.
