The Jain community holds this day to be auspicious too as they believe that “Tirthankara Rishabh” ended his fast on this day. Sage Parshurama – sixth incarnation of Lord Vishu – was also born on this day. Kuber – the divine custodian of wealth and riches – got his wealth and his appointment as the custodian on Akshaya Tritiya. Sudama – Lord Krishna’s best friend – visited the latter on this day, seeking some financial help. So many examples corroborating the significance of “Akshaya Tritiya” are there in Hindu mythology that, even today, in Odisha, farmers prefer to start ploughing on this day and, in Bengal, businessmen officially start logging their accounts in the new audit book on “Akshaya Tritiya”.
