Acharya Karan V – Lord Shiva is one of the most sought-after Gods in the Hindu Trinity. In the pantheon of Indian Gods, Lord Shiva has been worshipped in many forms, one of the famous being one that of “Bhairava” considered to be a harbinger of death and destruction. Lord Bhairava is considered to be an annihilator, bringing destruction and mayhem on the evil forces. Akash Bhairav (God of the Sky) is one of the similar manifestations of Lord Bhairava. Siddhi of this form of Lord Bhairav blesses the individual with high levels of intuition, fearlessness, and destruction of enemies and other desires manifestation.

The legend has it that the famous king Kirati visited the Kurukshetra during the war of Mahabharata, wearing the mask of Lord Bhairav. His intention was to offer assistance to the losing side which was Kauravas at that time. When Lord Krishna got a wind of this, he immediately decapitated the king’s head. Due to the Tantric powers gained by the king, Kirati’s head flew back to Kathmandu in Nepal, traversing the skies. Hence it got its name Akash Bhairav.

Akash Bhairav Siddhi is also believed to be a deity bringing peace and harmony in life, providing protection and safety from mishaps. The way Lord Akash Bhairav’s wrath can bring destruction, appeasing Him can also invoke peace and harmony. In Hinduism the word Akash (Sky) has special significance, as it is not only considered one of the supreme five elements i.e. Sky, Earth, Fire, Air and Water. Akash is the medium through which any sound travels and while doing the Siddhi of Akash bhairav one has to consider this aspect well.

Siddhi Procedure – The recitation of the following Akash Bhairav Mantra can discard the evil and bring prosperity and peace in one’s life:

“Om Khem Kham Khum Phat Prangrahsi Prangrahsi Hum Phat Sarvashatru Sangharkaya Sarabhashaluvaya Pakshirajaya Hum Phat Swaha“

One can appease Lord Akash Bhairav by following His veneration procedure. Upasana and Anushthan are done to complete the worship. The ingredients used in the Puja are Sandalwood, incense sticks, fruits, flowers and sacred water. One should sit upon a woollen blanket at holy place and recite the aforementioned mantras for 41 days. The auspicious days to start these mantras are Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. It will be wise to seek help from someone who has performed these recitations before.

If the worshipping of the Lord is performed with full faith and dedication while following proper Akash Bhairav Siddhi procedure like chanting of the mantras at the right time regularly, doing the right kind of rituals, the Lord is bound to be appeased, showering his blessings on the devotee. This Siddhi is very helpful for those individual undergoing malefic Shani or Rahu Mahadasha as this form of Lord Bhairav is also called controller of time, his worship will definitely bring positive change in the life of the individual.
