Acharya Karan V – Mata Parvati is one of the most prominent goddesses in Hindu mythology. So influential is she considered in Holy Scriptures that many aspects have been attributed to her, one of the primary forms being that of Devi or Durga. These aspects result in more manifestations, like Devi or Durga has that of Mata Bhuvaneshwari. In the pantheon of ten Mahavidya Goddesses, Bhuvaneshwari Devi has got the fourth place.

The contraction of two words “Bhuvana” and “Ishwari”, former having the meaning as “all the worlds” and latter being “the Goddess”, forms the word Bhuvaneshwari, meaning “the Goddess of all the Worlds”. The word “Bhuvana” refers to all the worlds in the universe, namely Dev Lok, PaatalLok and Mritulok or the earth – abode of humans. According to legends, Bhuvaneshwari Devi always carries all the worlds with all the creatures as ornaments on her divine being. Considered to be a divine power giving birth to the worlds, Bhuvaneshwari bestows upon all the beings of the world the power to live, love, protect and nurture. Her Sadhana liberates one from all the false attachments of the world, invoking a sense of psychological freedom from all the suffering and materialistic gains. The one devoting him to the Devi is bound to have the powers of realizing the true nature of the superficial world, unleashing him to a stage of being freed from all the sufferings.

One aspiring to get the blessings of Mata Bhuvaneshwari can perform the sadhana by chanting the ritualistic mantras, either in front of an idol or an image of the Mata or the Yantra. The sadhana can be initiated on Friday or any other auspicious day. Flowers and incense can be used to offer homage. An earthen lamp filled with ghee in front of the image of Bhuvaneshwari Devi should be lit.

After the incantations, the sadhana can be wrapped up by providing meals to small girls and the poor. One performing the Puja or worship with faith and dedication is bound to have a good riddance of all the negative vibes. The puja introduces positivity and confidence in a devotee’s life.
