Goddess Bhairavi Worship
Acharya Karan V – A symbol of female power and emancipation, harbinger of death for the evil and a benevolent mother-figure to all her devotees; that is Bhairavi – a Goddess who has struck awe in the minds of millions of her worshippers.
Goddess Bhairavi is another manifestation of Devi or Shakti, who in turn, is an aspect of Mata Parvati. Bhairavi and Kali are also quite identical in their manifestation. Bhairavi is worshipped in the form usually depicted to be seated, having four hands, holding a rosary and a book in two hands, with rest of the two in gestures of generosity.
As she is known to punish the bad ones and grace the good ones, she has earned the epithet Shubhamkari. She is also called Bala or Tripura Bhairavi sending shivers down the spines of the Asuras as she wields weapons and wages a battle, draining the enemies out of their morale, triggering fear and panic in their minds. She came to be known as Chandi as she slayed Shumbha and Nishumbha. Mata Paravati called her Chamundeshwari when Goddess Bhairavi killed Chanda and Munda and drank their blood to manifest her wrath for the evil. In battlefields, while waging wars with her enemies, Goddess Bhairavi is depicted to be mounted on her vehicle donkey, with her hair undone to appear like black serpents, Her skin tone changed to dark blue portraying the fierce bloodlust, holding a scythe-like blade smeared with dripping blood, her body wrapped in tiger hide.
