Surya is the king of planets, hence being in exalted position in “Mesh” or Aries. Permanently resided in “Simha” or Leo, Lord Surya’s associated color is copper, metal being gold and brass. According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Surya has two sons – Shani who punishes or rewards one as per the deeds one has done, and, Yama – also known as the god of death – who render good and bad to one after death. Survy Dev is believed to be the father of “Sugreev” – the monkey king from the Ramayana – who helped Lord Ram against Ravaan. Lord Ram is also a descendant of “SuryaVansh” associated with Lord Surya. Being at His well-deserved place, Lord Surya has undoubtedly earned the status of God. Reciting Lord Surya Mantra (Sun Worship) brings fame and prosperity to the individual and in the family as whole. There are several mantras which can be done but it better to choose one mantra of Surya and stick to it for immediate and better results. These mantras should be done in early morning time or during the sun rise hour. You may offer water to Tulsi or any other plant at your place after completion of the mantra Jaap. The recitation of mantras or mantra jap should be done facing sun rise or east direction and initially the Surya Mantra count should be 108 later you can increase.
