The position of the door for different directions is also recommended. For example, while putting an entrance door in North, one should avoid putting it in North-East direction. While placing the door in the south, one should not put it in South West as it causes lot of hot Infrared Rays to enter. The entrance should not be placed opposite to the entrance of the overlooking building. And, placing an entrance opposite to an abandoned building should also be avoided to keep the negative energies at bay. The main gate used to enter the premises of the house and the entrance to the inner part should be in the same direction.

Vastu has quite logical recommendations for kitchen and bedroom designs as well. For example, the placement of the kitchen should be in the South-East or North-West corner to avoid potential damage to the house from the emanating kitchen sparks. The kitchen should not be in the North-East direction due to the fact that the sunlight primarily enters from these directions, making these an ideal place for living or meditation room. The kitchen door should open in clockwise direction owing to the fact that most of the people are right-handed. The cooking equipment should be placed in the East, making it easy for the women to be exposed to healthy sun-rays. For bedroom, Vastu prescribes the placements of the bed in such a way that the head of a family member should be in South, West or East only. It talks about quite logical aspects like keeping the electronic appliances away from the bed to keep waves from disturbing the sleep, and there shouldn’t be any ceiling beam over the bed. Any bed with irregular or erratic shapes should be avoided.
